THE BIG STINK
Living a short walk from the River Thames, and an outlet from a waste water treatment plant, I see the impact of the disposal of untreated waste into our rivers daily. The shocking contrast between the beauty of the river and its surroundings and the realities of the quality of the water flowing by chills me, yet I feel powerless to do much about it. This work reflects on the lack of awareness in the general public, the inaction of government, the greed of water companies, and the overwhelming complexity of the problem and efforts to try to address it.
