EXPERIMENTAL AND ALTERNATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY
Emulsion Lifts
Lifting the emulsion from a Polaroid image is a trail and error process but can result in beautiful, ethereal images. I've also spent a lot of time trying to emulate this affect, to various degrees of success, with other materials compatible with digital processes.
written by the collective.
Intentional Camera Movement
Using slow shutter speeds and intentional camera movement veers away sharply from the control, technique and careful composition so prized in traditional photography. Relinquishing that control however, can result in recording a scene from an entirely new perspective.
Abstracts
Building from my work with international camera movement and digital lifts, this series of images moves into the abstract, with colour and movement the fundamental parts of the image.
Multiple Exposures
A series of images working with more than one exposure, either taken in-camera or created digitally. Bored by the limitations of lockdowns, this process allowed me to create an alternative world when we were all confined inside four walls.
Linear Landscapes
Exploring the routines of daily life, and its peaks and troughs, these images attempt to visualise the malaise of midlife in an abstract way.
Artist Books
Extracting photography from its traditional 2D form is a great pleasure of mine and combining this with creative paper folding t create 3D structures that obscure and reveal when manipulated is a never-ending source of fun and discovery that I love to explore and share in workshops.
